Tell Us Once Service
Telling Government/the Local Authority
organisations that someone has died
When someone dies you usually have to inform many different
government and local authority departments of the death so
that they can update their records. The ‘Tell Us Once’ Service
notifies many different departments on your behalf and gives
you a written letter and checklist of which departments have
already been informed of the death.
How to use the service
At the end of your appointment, the registrar will log the details of the
death on the Tell Us Once system. We will provide you with a unique
reference number and an instructions of how to complete the process
online or by phone with the Department of Work and Pensions.
Who will be noti昀椀ed?

• Housing Benefit Office
• Council Tax
