Top 10 ideas
for things to do in Windsor
on New Year’s Day
Why not head to Windsor and celebrate the start
of 2026 in one of the prettiest places in the UK.
Here’s our Top 10 guide for things to do
on New Year’s Day.
1. Enjoy a New Year’s Day celebratory lunch
7. Visit Windsor Castle
If you have any room after the Christmas festivities, why not treat yourself
to a New Year’s feast to welcome in 2026! We have plenty of restaurants,
borough-wide, that will help you celebrate in style with family and friends.

2. Feed the Swans on the River Thames
Enjoy a riverside walk by the Thames as it meanders, between Hurley and
Runnymede, through the beautiful Royal Borough through picturesque
villages such as Cookham and Bray. If you want to feed the swans then
give them fresh bread (mould is poisonous to them), grain such as wheat
or corn, and fresh greens such as lettuce or spinach, and throw it onto the
water. Walk along the promenade on the Windsor side of the river or cross
over the pedestrian bridge for a view back to Windsor from the greenery of
Eton Brocas.
