Festivo Concerts
Returning this winter and bringing you the unforgettable sound of Christmas
at Windsor Castle, these popular concerts are certain to 昀椀ll you with festal
cheer. The Choir of St George’s Chapel will be joined by a brass ensemble
in two concerts of sacred and secular seasonal music, interspersed with
devotional readings and well-known carols for all to join in.

Carols on the Hill
Now in its 76th year, the precedent for present-day Carols On The Hill
stretches back to December 1949 when a Christmas tree from Windsor
Great Park, given by HM King George VI, was erected and illuminated for
the 昀椀rst time near Queen Victoria Statue, providing a charming focal point
for the Windsor and Eton Rotary Club and Inner Wheel’s e昀昀orts to gather
and distribute hundreds of gifts for children in various hospitals.
Shortly before Christmas Eve, a group of Rotary Club singers gathered
round the tree to sing hymns and carols alongside a large audience which
included The Mayor, thus laying foundations of a tradition which has
continued virtually unbroken throughout the intervening decades.
This year’s event includes a collection for local charities Windsor Night
Shelter and Well Windsor and will feature the musical support of the Royal
Holloway University of London Brass Band.
Organised by Churches Together in Windsor and supported by Royal
Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, The Prince Philip Trust Fund and
Rotary Club of Windsor and Eton.

Howden Christmas Racing Weekend
Gather family, friends and colleagues as the Christmas holidays begin in
earnest and join us to celebrate the season at Ascot Racecourse.
The racing is set to be thrilling, with a quality Jumps card on the Friday featuring
the Grade 2 Howden Noel Novices’ Chase, won by subsequent Cheltenham
Festival winners Simonsig and Politologue in the past, as well as a Listed
Bumper that rounds o昀昀 a great day on the track. On the Saturday, enjoy the
most valuable meeting of Ascot’s Jumps season and some Grade 1 prestige
and the legendary long-distance Howden Long Walk.
O昀昀 the track on the Saturday, there’s an abundance of seasonal fun for all
with a range of festive entertainment set to delight racegoers of all ages.
The carol singing with the Ascot Brass Band remains 昀椀rmly part of the
entertainment, and Father Christmas will be in attendance. Please note,
family activities are available on the Saturday only. There will be no family
entertainment on the Friday.
